At Aaniiih Nakoda College, nursing students are gaining hands-on experience through strong community partnerships that bring learning beyond the classroom.

Since Fall 2025, a partnership with Northeast Montana Co-Operative STAT Air has provided in-flight observational experiences focused on critical care and trauma. Guided by professionals like Michelle Ozark and Kaye Brown, students like nurse Gregory “Cameron” Werk, gain valuable insight into high-acuity transport nursing. Though they do not provide direct patient care, students consistently report high satisfaction and meaningful learning.

This experience, supported in part by the Administration for Native Americans Social and Economic Development Strategies, strengthens the depth of ANC’s nursing program.

Clinical placements also play a vital role. Through a partnership with Indian Health Service, students receive hands-on training while helping expand healthcare access across the Fort Belknap Reservation and surrounding communities.

We are proud of Amanda Lopez, who is completing her Emergency Department clinical at Indian Health Service. Supported in part by the ANA SED grant, her experience is deepening her skills in trauma and critical care.

We are grateful to our partners and proud of our students as they prepare to serve their communities.
