ANC is proud to introduce a four-year Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (CIS), an accredited program designed to support students pursuing careers in technology and information systems. Recently approved by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, the program marks an important step forward in expanding STEM opportunities at the College.
Students enrolling in the program can expect a strong foundation in computer information systems, paired with hands-on, career-focused training in high-demand fields. Coursework emphasizes practical application, problem-solving, and the development of technical skills that align with today’s workforce needs, while remaining grounded in ANC’s commitment to community and place-based education.
The CIS program offers students the opportunity to focus their studies through specialized tracks in Web Design or Cyber Security. Through these pathways, students will build skills in networking, systems management, and digital technologies while preparing for careers that support tribal governments, local organizations, and a rapidly evolving global economy.
“We have a new Bachelor’s degree here at ANC in Computer Information Systems, and I’m happy to say we also have a new full-time instructor to help teach the program,” said CIS instructor Dennis Johnson. “This degree is networking-based, with options to focus on Web Design or Cyber Security. When you graduate, you’ll be prepared not just for entry-level roles, but for leadership positions and, eventually, managing IT departments. Whether you’re starting as a freshman or continuing from an associate degree, there are many opportunities waiting for you in this field.”
ANC has also welcomed a new full-time instructor, Md Nazhmul Hossain will join the College after completing his PhD at Northern Arizona. His experience will support students as they move through their coursework.
The new bachelor’s degree builds on ANC’s existing Associate of Science in CIS and reflects the College’s broader commitment to strengthening STEM education through initiatives like the Institutional Capacity Excellence in TCUP Institutions (ICE-TI) project. The program is designed to increase student success, expand access to high-demand career pathways, and contribute to the development of a local and global workforce.
As technology continues to shape every aspect of daily life, the CIS program at ANC will provide a pathway for students to gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.
